LG electronics has a great washer and dryers combination that is beyond belief.  It actually does all the washing and drying in the same machine.  While you might be shocked that it can do this, it is possible!  The LG WM3431H does have a few features that make it less appealing.  While it can do both washing and drying inside the same machine, it takes as long as six hours to go through the entire cycle.  The great features of the LG washer and dryer all in one do come at a steep price, nearly $1,400.

Frigidaire offers a more affordable option for people who do not want to pay the high prices of premier brands.  Model FLEB8200DS costs around $1,000 as a pair and has a capacity of 3 cubic feet.  This is the perfect size for a single load of a family of four.  There are plenty of different spin speeds and other bells and whistles that are on this model.  Unlike many other washers, you do not need to insert fabric softener or detergent into your load!  The washer does it for you.

FEX831FS is another great Frigidaire model that is a stacked washer and dryer combo.  It is one of the lowest cost stacked combo units out there, costing around $750.  This unit is one of the best for energy efficiency, however, it does not offer as large of load sizes as some of the other combo’s we have reviewed.  This model is great for a single person, or a couple who are living in their first home.  You also do not need to worry about the power bill or water bill when you are doing laundry, this model uses the least possible to clean your clothes!

One of the best features in the Frigidaire is that it has a huge capacity.  You will not have any problem fitting a large load into this washer with its 3.1 cubic foot size.  The dryer is even larger, with 5.7 cubic feet.  This unit is powered by electricity, which means that you can save yourself from extremely expensive natural gas bills.  Many people who have the Frigidaire have said that they believe that it takes too long to dry their clothes.  Most of their complaints are unfounded, due to the fact that the Frigidaire is usually plugged into an outlet that is less voltage than is recommended in the owners manual.

However, another interesting feature to note about the Frigidaire is that it has a moisture sensor, in order to determine when your clothes are dry and to prevent you from paying for wasted drying.  This sort of a feature in a washer and dryer combo that costs around $850 is amazing!  There really are not that many cons to the Frigidaire, other than the fact that some find that it dries slower, and that it has one heck of a loud end of cycle buzzer.  The Frigidaire does require the typical venting system, as well as connections to a source of water and electricity.  This means that you will need to put it in an area that is equipped like a traditional laundry room.

With its huge load size, and energy saving ability, the Frigidaire is the best budget washer dryer combo that you can find.  The fact that it slows in drying when operating at a lower power level is normal, and upgrading the voltage of your power outlet will fix this problem in a snap.  The Frigidaire costs $850 and is available at local home improvement stores as well as online.

Like many washer and dryer combos, the main complaint that the LG receives is that the dryer is slow.  However, soon LG will be able to update the model and upgrade the dryer so that it can perform better.  There are also several options on the unit that you can select in order to reduce the washing and drying cycle.  Unlike most dryers which use a vent to get the excess water away from the unit, the LG has to drain through a floor vent or a hose which will not usually be a problem, due to the need for a water input anyways.

Though its name makes it look like it belongs on a military arms inventory list, the Frigidaire GLEH1642FS is one of the highest ranking washer-dryer combos on the market. A front loader with 3.1 cubic foot capacity, this machine is only 27 inches wide. The upper dryer has a moisture sensor so that drying stops when the clothes are dry rather than running too long on a timer. Power savings! Plus, the Frigidaire GLEH1642FS has a pretty fast drying time, and a gentle-wash cycle. The biggest complaint is the rather startling end-of-cycle alarm.

Another small washer-dryer combo that lives up to its name is the GE Spacemaker WSM2420DWW. This laundry machine is only 24 inches wide so it will certainly fit in a small space, but its capacity is small, too – 1.5 cubic feet of washer space and 4.3 cubic feet for the dryer unit on top. The GE Spacemaker, though rather basic, is given a good performance rating by users. It rates high for both washing and drying, though it does operate a bit loudly for all its small size. Of course, don’t expect this little marvel to keep ahead of the dirty laundry volume that a large family can produce..
